I’ve long used the Lake Minnequa Open Space here in Pueblo as my personal aerodrome, including last month’s first flights of my new drone, an Autel Evo 2 Pro. It’s an ideal setting for for drone flights, offering 270 unobstructed acres of open fields and, of course, a lake. It’s rarely crowded and folks who do recreate there tend to keep to the park’s established pathways or basketball courts.

While putting the drone–dubbed Reina One–through its paces, sections of matted marsh grasses–phragmites australis, I think–caught my eye and I shot a few photos of it. The aerial perspective, along with its Wyeth-toned hues and a texture that of coarse hair, makes it an interesting take on an otherwise ordainary plant.
