According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the autumnal equinox falls on September 22, 2016 at 8:21 a.m. MDT. But for me, summer ended this morning near La Veta when I saw West Spanish Peak dusted with snow. Herr Werner, my German instructor from a thousand years ago, might say, “es ist ganz vorbei.”
Yes, I know, there’s going to be a 90-degree day or two between now and the first snow. But make no mistake. Around these parts, Fall has fell.
