
Most of the plants in our backyard have begun to embrace the changing seasons. The Helianthus, russian sage, and day lilies are less vibrant and have started dying back. But not the roses. Surprisingly, they’re kicking ass. I wish I could take credit for their success but it’s due more to obliging October weather than any sort of horticultural prowess on my part.
Accommodating as it’s been, the balmy weather is forecasted to give way to more seasonable conditions with overnight temperatures dipping below freezing this coming week.
Which means this crop of late bloomers are short timers. But man, what a glorious end.
