Apple recently updated its iOS for their iPhone and iPad devices. One of the tweaks in the new operating system added a panorama feature to their camera. I tried it out Saturday during the CSU-Pueblo/Adams State football game after getting a couple pointers from my colleague Anthony Mestas on how to correctly use it.
It’s simple enough to use, just follow the screen prompts. I ran this file through the Snapseed app to open up some shadow detail and crop the image. There is lens distortion, but not enough to bother me. If I were to trying to composite a “distortion-free” image, I’d go about it in a different fashion. Starting with using a real camera.
But for stuff on the fly, and wanting to try something different, it’s a neat little feature to have at my finger tips.
