Blue eyes were a recurring element in a series of murals I photographed around Pueblo with a Polaroid SLR 680 camera during March. Photos by Mike Sweeney/©2020
Here are a few more Polaroids shot last month of murals sprinkled throughout Pueblo. The blue-eyed theme was a happy accident, and brings to mind the line from Quentin Tarintino’s Kill Bill Vol. 1 when Bill asks his one-eyed assassin Elle Driver about the tenacity and resilence of her former rival and fellow assassin, the comatose Beatrix Kiddo. “Y’all beat the hell out of that woman, but you didn’t kill her. And I put a bullet in her head, but her heart just kept on beating. Now, you saw that yourself with your own beautiful blue eye, did you not?”
