The Federal Aviation Administration has been tweaking the airspace classifications around Pueblo the past few weeks. At the beginning of May, our house sat on the edge of Class E4 airspace, meaning it was controlled airspace and required FAA authorization to fly a drone there. A couple weeks later, it was suddenly Class G which has no authorization requirements. A few days later, it was back to Class E4. And now it’s once again Class G. I suspect the flip-flops are related to the FAA’s rollout to their new LAANC program.
During the Class G windows, I launched the drone from our backyard a couple times, taking it to a height of 380 feet and photographed the evening sky. And I got some nice results.
