The winter season for southern Colorado this year was poised to be a robust one. It was an El Niño year that followed a record year for rainfall. January snowfall totals for Pueblo underscored that trend.

Then came February. Pueblo set a record on Feb. 18 when temperatures topped out at 81 degrees. Five days later it snowed for the just the second time that month.

In their seasonal summary, the National Weather Service reported things were more or less normal, weather-wise, except where it wasn’t .”The winter of 2015-2016,” they said, “was very warm with generally near to slighly above normal precipitation, save southern portions of the area which saw generally below normal precipitation.”

I can hardly wait for spring.
