Up until this past winter, Zoom, to me, was the PBS show with 02134 ZIP code. While applying for jobs, I learned what a Zoom call was. Then the Coronavirus hit and Zoom was everywhere. I recently read Zoom had about 10 million users a couple months ago but by April 1, it had over 200 million users as people began working and/or attending class from home during the pandemic. Monica and my brother Mark use it to conference with colleagues at work. My neices Cassie and Hanna will be using Zoom to instruct young students.
Cassie, wanting to hone her Zoom skills, pitched having a family coast-to-coast Zoom call April 2. But in actuality, it was a chance to check in with family and let each other know we were doing okay. So at 6 p.m. PDT, Cassie, Monica, Hanna, Anne Marie, Mark, and Enedina all logged into Cassie’s meeting and we spent about 20 minutes sharing our experiences dealing with the COVID-19 shutdown. And all things considered, I’m happy to relate everyone was healthy and safe.
Here’s hoping it stays that way.
