Drone photos of the CalTrans Gleason Beach Realignment project and bridge construction by O.C. Jones & Sons are available for licensing and download. The photos were taken May 31, 2022. They feature a bustling construction site along a scenic stretch of coastal California Highway 1, between Bodega Bay and Jenner.
Gleason Beach has long posed erosion challenges along Highway 1. The purpose of the $26 million alignment project is being undertaken to protect a vital California roadway from coastal erosion and increases in sea-level rise. It includes a new 850-foot-long bridge that will include a separated pedestrian sidewalk over the Scotty Creek riparian habitat and is expected to be completed in 2024.
